RealtimeIRL Privacy Policy
Hi there! RealtimeIRL is centered around location data, so it's important you know what we're doing with that data. This privacy policy covers:
- Our website, rtirl.com
- Our Android and iOS apps
- RealtimeChat, including its Android and iOS apps and chat.rtirl.com
Information We Collect
We collect information from two sources: information you provide to us and information we collect automatically.
Information You Provide to Us
- Basic account information: We ask for basic information from you in order to set up your account. For example, you may be required to connect your Twitch account in order to access features. We collect your Twitch account ID, username, and display name.
- Stream information: We also ask Twitch to provide information on your streams, such as when your stream starts and stops.
- Location information: When you use our API, including through our apps, to send location to us, we retain that location information.
- Communications with us: Any messages that you might send to us, we retain as necessary.
Information We Collect Automatically
- Log information: Like most websites, we collect information that web browsers, mobile devices, and servers typically make available, including the browser type, IP address, unique device identifiers, language preference, referring site, the date and time of access, operating system, and mobile network information.
- Usage information: We record interactions with our website, such as which streamers are tracked or how you interact with the map.
How and Why We Use Information
- To render location data. Our service is centered around streamers sharing their location information. It's no surprise that that information is useful.
- To ensure quality, maintain safety, and improve our Services. For example, by providing automatic upgrades and new versions of our Services. Or, for example, by monitoring and analyzing how users interact with our Services so we can create new features that we think our users will enjoy and that will help them create and manage websites more efficiently or make our Services easier to use.
- To market our Services and measure, gauge, and improve the effectiveness of our marketing. For example, by targeting our marketing messages to groups of our users (like those who have a particular plan with us or have been users for a certain length of time), advertising our Services, analyzing the results of our marketing campaigns (like how many people purchased a paid plan after receiving a marketing message), and understanding and forecasting user retention.
- To protect our Services, our users, and the public. For example, by detecting security incidents; detecting and protecting against malicious, deceptive, fraudulent, or illegal activity; fighting spam; complying with our legal obligations; and protecting the rights and property of RealtimeIRL and others, which may result in us, for example, declining a transaction or terminating Services.
- To fix problems with our Services. For example, by monitoring, debugging, repairing, and preventing issues.
- To communicate with you. For example, by emailing you to ask for your feedback, share tips for getting the most out of our products, or keep you up to date on RealtimeIRL; texting you to verify your payment; or calling you to share offers and promotions that we think will be of interest to you. If you don’t want to hear from us, you can opt out of marketing communications at any time. (If you opt out, we’ll still send you important updates relating to your account.)
YouTube
RealtimeChat uses YouTube API Services. By signing in with YouTube you agree to the YouTube Terms of Service, and Google's use of your data is governed by the Google Privacy Policy.
When you sign in with YouTube, we:
- Store your YouTube channel ID, channel name, handle and profile picture URL so we can show who is signed in.
- Store the OAuth tokens Google gives us so we can act on your behalf. They are kept on our servers and are never sent to the app.
- Use those tokens only to find your live chat, send chat messages you write, and delete messages or ban and time out users when you moderate your chat.
We don't use YouTube data for advertising, we don't sell it, and we don't share it with anyone except as needed to provide these features. RealtimeChat's use and transfer of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
You can sign out in the app at any time, and you can revoke RealtimeChat's access from your Google security settings. When access is revoked, we delete your stored YouTube tokens and profile the next time we try to use them. You can also email us to have your YouTube data deleted right away.
Sharing Information
We do not sell your information. We share it only with service providers that run our services for us, such as Google Firebase for hosting, databases, analytics and crash reporting, and with the platforms you connect, such as Twitch, Kick and YouTube, as needed to provide the features you use. Certain information may be shared publicly as configured, such as your location information.
Your Rights
If you are located in certain parts of the world, including California and countries that fall under the scope of the European General Data Protection Regulation (aka the "GDPR"), you may have certain rights regarding your personal information, like the right to request access to or deletion of your data. Please email us about any of your rights.
Privacy Policy Changes
Although most changes are likely to be minor, RealtimeIRL may change its Privacy Policy from time to time. Your further use of the Services after a change to our Privacy Policy will be subject to the updated policy.
